Hi! I’m Dawn Although I had a head knowledge about Christianity, I never experienced life in Christ and true heart change until after I joined a revival team. Yes, you read that right. Convicted during team meetings, I resisted the work of the Holy Spirit in my life until, one day, I stood onstage at a Christian high school assembly. Singing “Do You Know My Jesus,” I suddenly felt deep conviction. God’s truth broke through! I left my microphone—leaving a part missing in the harmony—as I hurried to the prayer room, nailing down my decision for Christ. So I know firsthand the power of the truth of Scripture! And I eagerly share that truth with others.I was once called “The Queen of Self-Help.” The problem with that is, I desperately needed God’s help! Self-help tends to cultivate independence from God and His Word, and much of it can lead to unbiblical thinking. After God transformed my heart, my sincere desire and greatest delight was in pointing people to the truth of Scripture—God’s “truth talk” for faith, freedom, and fruitful Christian living.Who am I in my personal life today?I live in San Diego with my husband Bob—married fifty years in 2024. We have served together in churches and three national ministries for five decades. We have two grown, married sons, and I adore my three granddaughters, who I affectionately call my “kiddles.”I’m a contracted worker for Revive Our Hearts and also write for Crosswalk.com.I’m a member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) and WordGirls, a group of Christian writers. It’s been said that our greatest ministries arise out of our greatest needs. In 2019, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma—a disease of the plasma cells in bone marrow. I had a stem cell transplant in 2020 and a CAR T-cell procedure in 2023. I am currently in remission. My ministry bucket list is long; I have many dreams and desires that I constantly bring to my Father God, praying for more years to accomplish them—while still desiring His will most of all. This site, “Truth Talk with Dawn,” is one of those dreams. My co-authored book, Truth Talk for Hurting Hearts, to be released in 2024, is another. My mantra in recent years has been simple: God is sovereign, God is loving, and God is good. He is all of that and much more, and His plans for His children are beyond what we can imagine! I hope you will get to know Him better as I write about Him and many of the biblical truths that have changed my life. Now all glory to God, who is able through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think (Ephesians 3:20 NLT).
